Luftness
Qualifying course for The Open Championship. Luffness New is a championship links course adjacent to Gullane and Muirfield, famous for its true greens and rolling links terrain.
Designed by Tom Morris and upgraded by James Baird (1924), it is described as a "new" course, although it was opened in 1893 and incorporates the original nine holes of Luffness Old Course founded in 1867.
Gerald Micklem described the greens as the finest in Scotland.
When Bobby Locke offered the Head Greenkeeper a written statement to this effect, he replied " No thank ye Sir- a' body kens aboot it!"
