"The Best 9 Holes in Scotland" Golf World
Gifford Golf Club is one of the oldest in East Lothian. It was established in 1904 when the Marquis of Tweeddale, himself a keen golfer, leased 50 acres of the family estate for the "privilege of playing golf". Membership is no longer restricted to local residents but the club still retains a friendly community atmosphere and visitors are made welcome.
Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Gifford and nestling at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills, this gently-undulating, parkland course is well-known for its large first-class greens, playable all year round. The 9 holes are varied by having two sets of tees for the 1st/10th and 5th/14th. The Speedyburn meanders through the course, coming into play on four of the holes.
This is an ideal and deceptively-challenging course for a most enjoyable holiday round.
